I'M NOT READY!

My daughter does not do well with change.   When she was two, we got her a toddler bed.  We talked it up, and she was very excited to sleep in it.  We moved her 200 doggies and kitties from her crib to her beautiful new bed.  We moved her blanket and her special pillow.  We tucked her in.  And started to walk away...

"I'M NOT READY!"  she screamed.  "I WANT MY CRIBBY!"  So we moved all 200 doggies and kitties, blanket and pillow back to her crib and said, "We'll try again tomorrow."

This went on for months.

Two years ago, we got her a big girl bed.  It sits in the corner of her room empty.   I say to my husband,  "What's the matter with her?  She is seven and  half and insists on still sleeping in her toddler bed."

Yesterday, I clicked on a button that said, "Try the new blogger interface now."

Two seconds later, I screamed I"M NOT READY!!!!    I WANT MY OLD INTERFACE BACK!

Imagine my surprise and relief when I saw a button that said, "Return to old interface."

The apple doesn't fall far from the tree.

I will not be trying that new interface again for a LONG time.    Possibly not ever.

I'm scared of the new blogger interface, too.

And my daughter did the same thing with her bed. It's amazing how much they want to be grown up and big . . . . except for their bed and their blankie and their sippy cups . . . Okay, I kind of love it.

I haven't even had the nerve to press that button yet, Corey! I'm glad you've forewarned me that I won't be ready :) My 14 year old still sleeps with her baby blanket tucked somewhere in the bed... just in case you were wondering how long these phases last... :)

I saw the button too...and ran the other direction. Do you know what it does???

Cute story about your daughter. :D

I had a similar experience with the Blogger interface.

Don't worry. Your daughter will outgrow that bed eventually. Or maybe it will break! (wicked laugh)

I didn't see that button yet.

Oh man, I'm like that. My Grandma had a habit of leaving brand new shoes in her closet for a month before she'd wear them just to "break them in".

That is so funny!! What a great analogy!

I hit the button too, took one look and returned to the old interface. I'm sure the new one is better. It is probably shinier and bigger and better equipped and can do handstands while eating ice cream, but I like the comfort of the old, so I'll stay there until I'm forced off.

At least Google and blogger, unlike facebook, gives you fair warning ahead of time and lets you ease into it - like staring at the bed across the room from your crib. Facebook just packs up the crib while you're gone and then, when you get back, says, "Surprise! This is it now!"

LOL. Isn't it funny what they can get from us?! :-)

I hadn't seen the option for the new interface until I read this post. So I just tried it and I am completely befuddled why blogger thinks it is better than the one we have now. There is hardly anything there at all. Maybe it is just a trial stage thing right now, because I wasn't very impressed. I agree with you, it is much easier to stick with something we are more comfortable with until we possibly outgrow it! I can only imagine your 7 year old all curled up in her toddler bed :) She must really like it to be all snug in it! My daughters have a queen bed and a toddler bed in their room, but they both wanted to sleep in the same bed and thank goodness they chose the queen bed. So our toddler bed sits empty, too, that is until our 3rd daughter is ready for it in a year or two!

I saw a blurb come up on a screen one day about it and there was NO WAY I was going to push that button. I can barely make a post as it is now. I am so tired of having to watch tutorials on everything I want to do on the computer that I hope they don't force us to switch.

When BB was 6 she still wanted to take a sippy cup to bed nightly. She was addicted. We thought she'd never give it up. BSD promised her a puppy and she quit cold turkey the next night. Food for thought...

Corey, I am laughing so hard I can hardly type! Not about your daughter (that's kinda cute), but about you. I did exactly the same thing, clicked on the button, and then screamed NO! So glad to see that "return to old interface" button. Whew! That's not gonna happen again for a loooong time. Why do they have to mess up something that works perfectly well?

Yeah, I'm with you. It's like when they move everything in the grocery store - I just want them to move everything back.

Although eventually, we may not have a choice with the new interface. Boo.

LOL, I can relate. I don't do change well. My husband and son tease me about having to drag me, kicking and screaming, into any new technology.

I'm thinking of tumblr -- it seems easier. Wonder if there's a way to move a blog to that instead of reinventing the wheel?
