I Like Banned Books... and I Cannot Lie! (plus a giveaway!)

I like banned books... and I cannot lie.  I also like big butts.

Butts are funny.  They make kids laugh.  But some people don't like big butts.   Some people give THE THREE NINJA PIGS a one-star review on Goodreads and write comments like, "I purchased this book for my classroom, but after reading it, I have decided it isn't appropriate for young children. I don't appreciate that it has the word 'butt' in it."

Well, those people are not going to like many of my other books either, because nearly every story I write has the word butt, or some synonym for butt, in it!

So in honor of Banned Books Week (and big butts!), I am giving away a signed copy of THE THREE NINJA PIGS.

Just leave a comment to be entered.  Winner will be selected on Sept 27, at 10:00 PM EST.

We were not allowed to use the word butt growing up. Ever. Still, this didn't stop me from including BUTT in my book too. I expected a tongue lashing from my mom, but she never said anything. Which leads me to wonder, "Mommmmmmmm? Have you read my book?"

But that is the best line to read aloud when sharing The Three Ninja Pigs in classrooms! I always roll my eyes and point at that part :)

Oh for crying out loud. Some people just like to complain for no reason. Nothing wrong with a little butt-kicking! You rock, Corey! (But let someone else win; I already own both your Ninja Books.)

Butt..... butt.... where would we be without butts? Hard to sit on yer hipbones. It's just too bad that some folks have no sense of humor.

You are kidding me! My daughter loves this book, and I have no problem with that!

I just read something that used the word "padunkadunk". "Butt" is so much more elegant ;-)

So silly. What are you supposed to call it? A butt is a butt!

There are some awesome books on the banned books list. So sad. Thanks for offering such a cool giveaway!

I use the word, bottom, but it means the same. I think butts refer to the end of cigarettes and logs but I am from the dinosaur era according to my children. :) I cannot believe the reasons given for banning some books and I am saddened when I hear of teachers who limit a child's experience in their classes, because they are probably scared of parent reactions. Well done on your books Corey, having read many banned books myself I am cheering to support yours.

That sucks buddy, Some people take what is considered a swear word in this day and age too far.

My 5year old daughter says 'butts', 'dammit', 'awww hell' all the time. I don't consider any of those "swear words" or even remotely offensive. If anyone does find them offensive they should probably go lock themselves in a cave and never come back out.

Plus she goes to a really expensive catholic school and I haven't had any negative feedback about her language.
