WHAT ABOUT MOOSE? Teamwork Challenge

WHAT ABOUT MOOSE? is a story about building, planning, teamwork and problem-solving.

It takes a team to build a tree house.  But what if that team includes one very bossy moose who is not a good team-player?

Read the story and then challenge your students to work as a team to build a pyramid out of cups. The catch?  No one is allowed to touch the cups directly with their hands or any part of their body.

I discovered this activity when Miss Stickley posted about it on twitter.  Her third grade class worked in teams, manipulating the cups with strings and a rubber band.

It looked like so much fun that I googled it and found that there are many variations of this challenge. It is an exercise in communication and cooperation!  You can find a formal lesson plan here, here, and here.

I can't wait to try this activity with a group of kids!
