Those Were The Days

My mom emailed me last week and said, "I miss your blog posts."

Wanna know what I miss? I miss my flat stomach! I looked good in a bathing suit until I was 41. (That's after having my second child) Then we moved from the city where I walked at least three miles a day, to the suburbs, where I usually let my husband get the mail to avoid making the trip to the end of the driveway.

And now I permanently look like I am entering my second trimester. Ouch. Sad, but true.

Ah, to have that bikini body back!

What do you miss?

Ditto. While at the beach last week I stayed in my cover up for as long as possible, sigh.

OH Corey, sounds like you may be in a funk. I have (an continue to have) plenty of those! I bet you'll be posting every hour and have your tummy back to how you like it in no time!

What is it about the suburbs that just encourages us to be lazy? Why do we drive to things that are within walking distance? Same thing happened to me, and I have NO IDEA WHY.

What I really miss, though, is the ability to survive on 4 hours of sleep a night for months on end.

Oh, Larissa, I don't think I was ever able to do that! Sure, in college, I pulled all-nighters, but I could go never have gone multiple nights in a row with little sleep.

I miss my kitty. :(

And of course, the body I used to have. I hope to find it again someday.

I'm not sure I ever had a flat stomach, but that doesn't mean I can't miss having one! :-)

I also miss being able to go to a movie any night I wanted to and reading for multiple hours at a time.

Also, right now I miss my dog because he is at a ten-day doggie boot camp getting a training boost.

Your posts always make me laugh. Keep 'em comin!

Corey -- we must have been separated at birth.

I was working in the city when my first son was born -- baby weight melted off, no problem. Second son was born when I was working in the 'burbs. Driving everywhere. Hello Weight Watchers. I've heard it likened to the freshman ten -- only it's the suburban twenty.

I miss the days of staying home and working on my writing while my kids go to school.

I miss being able to carry my kids. :)

I never lived in a city, but I do remember dropping weight at college because the campus was so big and I walked all the time. I miss living there. :)

I miss the same thing! I started working out again last week, but something tells me I'll never get that old body back.

I miss my flat stomach too. It left me at 31. I was annoyed when staring at my sister in law's tiny midsection when I was at her house for her THIRD CHILD's first birthday party. Did I mention she doesn't even have on stretch mark and you can see abs? I hate her.

Corey - I was about 40 when things went south that I never had up north. Didn't seem fair. Heavy sigh! Oh well. On the positive side, though, I am much wiser than I was when my stomach was flat. That must count for something.

Ooh I miss my bikini body too. Especially since I live 10 mins from the beach and friends are already planning days at the beach. I try to hide in the water most of the time.

I also miss New West Nectar. It was a perfume I wore as a teen and it was the best smell in the world. They dont make it anymore and I've never found anything I loved as much as that smell. :(

I miss...
sleeping through the night
feeling rested in the morning
having energy
having time to myself
being able to read a book straight through whenever I feel like it
(but I know I'll miss this stage when it's gone)

I miss when my son was little, before he started school. I miss all the fun, silly things when kids are little.
My son is now 17 and he's hanging out with friends, looking for a job, trying to plan on what he's going to do after graduation next year.

I miss my two oldest children being in free public school where tuition wasn't an option and dreams weren't dashed for them....

I miss my younger skin! My skin does NOT like being 42. I could cry. :-)

I'm glad I'm not the only one. I may have the heart of a champion (favourite song right now), but I have the body of a 40 year old and that depresses the hell out of me.

I'm trying to lost my post-second-child-pinchy-stomach-thing, too. Only I'm looking for methods that involve no exercise or dieting. Any ideas?

Yep, so mourning my flat stomach. That and my smooth forehead. So sad.

I miss the sun, the warm weather and the still air. I'm so sick of wind and rain and gray. Blah.

I miss dreams where I run so fast I almost fly. I do not have them any more and I do not know why.
