Goldilocks on the Brain

Sorry if I haven't visited your blogs lately. I have bronchitis (or something posing as bronchitis) and I just can't seem to kick it.

Anyway, I seem to have a Goldilocks obsession. It might have something to do with the fact that my agent keeps telling me, "Write another fractured fairy tale." Pigs was such a hit, do it again. Makes sense. Sound logic. Except that pigs came to me entirely by accident. I can not set out deliberately to write a fractured fairy tale. Trust me. I have tried. While other people have come up with 30 wonderful diverse ideas for PiBoIdMo, I have a list of 30 pathetic variations on the Three Bears theme.

Goldifox and the Three Hares
Tawnylocks, Goldi's Little Known Twin
Goldi-Rocks and The Three Bear Band

The list goes on and on...

My latest came to me the other night. I'd use the fairy tale to teach fractions. It was going great... until I woke up. What on earth could I have been dreaming? Goldilocks and the Three and a Half Bears? UGHHHHH.

Go away Goldilocks and leave me alone!

I have faith in your imagination. Toss some wild ideas in a bowl and mix-and-match like a party game. See if anything jumps out.
Sorry you are unable to get rid of the cough; that can be so exhausting.

Goldi and the three and a half bears?? I love it! Hang in there - something will come. ;-)

I hope you manage to kick both the Goldilocks and the bronchitis with one fight. Maybe Goldilocks could catch a cold from eating the bears' porridge.

What a bright imagination Corey! You have a hit stirring in your dreams.

I actually like the sound of Tawnylocks, Goldi's Little Known Twin!

I like the Goldi rocks one.

Maybe you should focus on a different fairy tale?

sorry to hear you are ill -- I hope you are on antibiotics. I got bronchitis last year and it lasted over a month before I finally went to the urgent care and got some medicine. Then it was gone in three days. I was kicking myself for waiting so long. Hope you feel better soon!!

Seriously, Corey, Goldi-rocks and the Three Bear Band is a great idea. Kids would love it. Parents would buy it.

Seriously? It was really a joke!

Those ideas aren't half bad actually. :)
I hope you feel better soon.

Hope you feel better soon.

I'm still giggling at what a half a bear might be...ewww! :)

Maybe Mama Bear has a bear in her tummy? And Dr. Goldi delivers it? ha! Just kidding around. Then again Ninja Pigs kind of started as a joke too!

Glad to hear you're sick. Well...not really, but I was beginning to think I smelled or something! Hope you're feeling better soon! Bronchitis is no joke! I remember only being comfortable propped up on the couch and holding a pillow over my stomach to cough.

And...half a bear = baby is a CUTE idea!!!

Get better quick!

I LOVE the Goldi-Rocks one! Want to collaborate?

I hope you feel better too. And another vote for Goldi-rocks. Seriously. I don't know if you have nieces or little girly neighbors hanging around, but anything remotely rocker-girl or even borderline Hannah/Demi/Selena/Taylor/whatever is huge.

Oh my! I just can't imagine having to come up with something like that. It stresses me out just thinking about what you're going through! I'd much rather stick with a novel!

I can't imagine coming up with good picture book ideas. My brain just doesn't work that way. All of my ideas involve people dying. Hmm...maybe you could do something three little bears and what's left of Goldilocks? See, aren't you happy I don't write picture books?

Corey Schwartz said...

I don't know why, but your comment just made me think of Dreadlocks and the Three Bears

OMG, it's been done!

Glad you're back in action again. Sounds like your brain has already kicked back into action. I love those Goldilocks variations!

I like the idea of Tawnylocks, Goldi's twin...
Maybe Tawny's an evil twin...maybe she's a vampire! Oh, sorry, wrong genre.

All those ideas sound awesome to me. Goldi-Rocks is my favorite.

I'm so sorry to hear that you're sick! Yuck. As if you have time for that! I can't wait to hear about what you come up with. I'm sure it will be wonderful!

It'll percolate until the right idea appears. They all sound great, by the way.
