Inside the Mind of a Five Year Old

My sense of humor must have gotten washed away during the nine days in a row of rain that we just had.  I can't seem to come up with a single witty or amusing thing to say.  So, I'll do what I always do in that situation.  Exploit my offspring.

Here are some recent conversations with Thing 2.

JORDAN: I wonder who was the first person to get an iPod touch?
JOSH: It was probably Adam and Eve

ME:  I think I'll go read some books to get ideas.
JOSH:  You're not like the Beatles.  They were original.

And my favorite...

JOSH: Why are there two N's in the alphabet?
ME: Why do think there are two N's?
JOSH: Cause there are... L, M, N, O, P ... Q, R, S, T, U, V, W, X, Y, N, Z!

What hilarities have your kids been up to lately?

LOL, I like when bloggers share things about their kids. My son is 18, so no more of those cute stories to share.

Oh, that's adorable, Corey! So glad you're writing these down. You'll be happy you did when your kids are all grown-up and don't talk to you as much!

These are awesome! So true about N, but my favorite is the Beatles comment! I love how our children's comments play mental games with us, even though we know they are coming from a child's mind :)

I LOOOOOVEE the last one!! You have to find a way to use that one.

I've been cracking up during my million car pool drives lately. I am bummed that I don't write them down b/c I'm forgetting a lot of them. They make me want to write a middle grades story though.

The most recent one I thought was so cute was one of the girls had a coffee cake. The other girls hadn't seen one. When she explained what it was she said,

"It's a coffee cake." Yuck faces from the 3 others. Then she quickly added, "But it doesn't taste like coffee. It's meant to go WITH coffee." More yuck faces.

Not earth-shattering but the dynamic b/t the 4 girls in the carpool is priceless.

One time I gave my son a time out for hitting my daughter and on his way to the corner he said, "I want a new mommy!" Instead of bursting into tears, which was what I felt like doing, I said, "What kind of mommy do you want?" His answer? "A RICH one!!!" Do not ask me how the 3 year old mind works :)

HILARIOUS! So funny I can't even pick a favorite. You should bind these all together in a book for posterity.
