Wouldn't it be nice if we could cancel a day? I think I'd actually like to cancel this whole week.
All that fasting and atoning I did yesterday has killed off some brain cells. I can't think of a single thing to post about.
Well, actually I should rephrase that. I can't think of a single thing to post about that would make it past the blog police.
I'm in an overly reflective mood. And we all know, it is NEVER a good idea to reflect too much in public :)
So, what's a blogger to do?
Guess I'll have to come up with a list of ways cheer myself up.
- Go see what shenanigans Lisa and Laura are up to.
- Read my latest story with a British accent (Always sounds bloody brilliant that way).
- Tell my husband, "Honey, I'm late," and watch the sheer panic that comes over him. (This might seem mean, but if you saw the look on his face, you'd laugh too)

i tried to picture the look on david's face, and
got hysterical!
very funny....;-]
Oh, that last one's a good one. Maybe I'll try that one, too!
Love that blog post title!
Husband and I are going to start trying for wee ones next year...I've already started playing the "I'm late" joke!!
LOVE your list of things to cheer you up. I've never tried reading my stories with a British accent. That would definitely do the trick. (Thanks for the re-post!)
You're hysterical...poor hubby! ;)
I love reading things in a British accent. The boy and I are reading the Hobbit now, and the accent seemed most appropriate, but it's all I can do to get through it in English! That JRR...as my son said:
He must use a lot of words 'cause he has a lot of initials.
Oooh, I like that British accent technique!! I'm going to try that one!
I'd like to request to cancel my work day tomorrow. That would be bloody brilliant.
Dude, I totally always read my books with different accents!! (The British always makes my writing sound more intelligent.)
Shelley
Corey, I appreciate a good "scare" too. But for me, it usually comes in the form of a dark hallway and a loud "boo!" Gets hubby almost every time.
Hmmm. Sometimes I think I cancel a day without even knowing it. Just put myself on hold.
I love the notion of reading in different accents. Wouldn't it be fun to have a multi-lingual group and each reads snippets?
SO funny! I canceled today. Really.
Reminds me of a Candid camera episode I saw as a kid. "New Jersey is closed for the day." It was hilarious! They just stopped cars at the border and told them, "Sorry, you'll have to come back tomorrow."
The last one is hilarious! I'm still laughing. Mainly b/c my husband would probably keel over!
Hope your reflecting yesterday gives you extra energy today!
The idea of a British accent reading to improve the sound of your work cracked me up. ;)
Good for you, taking a break when you need one. There's nothing wrong with that. I hope your kids are well now.
Wow, I saw Cheryl Klein's post of someone else's post a few weeks ago, but I never read through the responses. Amazing that someone pitched an agent who then looked at their blog and noticed the writer said their story wasn't ready. WHOA. But I suppose the argument could be made that even if the agent had requested the work, the agent would have figured out it wasn't ready on their own, right?
I do understand that writer-blogs have to talk about how hard the craft is, and I think what that editor was trying to say is that she didn't want to work with a whiny writer, someone who complained repeatedly. I don't think talking about the difficulty of the craft every once in a while is a deal-breaker.
But writing bad things about your own work repeatedly, or complaining how another editor or agent didn't like your work...well, I don't think I'd want to work with that writer, either. Especially if they made it common practice to yell "unfair!" on a weekly basis.
Glass half full, always. Even when it spills, fill it back up.
I'd like to cancel this week too! If you start some kind of official, I'll definitely sign it.
I'm off to read that post!
That would be "official petition." See why the week needs to be cancelled?
Ha, Sarah. I got it the first time :)
Beth, wee ones? How cute! If all goes well, they'll be born just in time to get a NINJA PIGS as a baby gift! (Or maybe for their THIRD birthday???)
I'm feeling the same way.
Oh, and thanks for re-posting your road to publication post. It was great fun to read!
Ok...now I'm a skerred of these Blog Police. What fun is a blog if you can't be real?!??! Ok...maybe I won't write that Wonder Woman costume post after all, but please don't stop posting what it's really like to be a writer. I want to hear the good, the bad and the ugly.
boo - we'll miss you.
