To wait to get published? I'd say so. To wait for true love to call? That is the question of this song.
David and I met on the beach in Dec 1985. His roommate, Steve, and my roommate, Carolyn, were brother and sister. They lived in Miami, and David and I were both down visiting for winter break. A bunch of us ended up on the beach one afternoon. I have no recollection. He has a photo to prove it.
If you're a writer, you write. No matter if you ever get published or not. Of course it's the goal of every writer, but I wouldn't stop after 15 years. No way. I'd keep writing. What if the next Newbery winner spilled out of you in year 16?
Wait...was he thinking of you that entire time, trying to get up the nerve to call? Or is it just that after 15 years he couldn't forget about that girl he'd met and then he decided to track you down?
Unfortunately, it was neither. It was more like he called for a blind date. He and I were both still close with Carolyn and Steve's family. He heard my name mentioned over the years and figured since we were both single and living on the upper east side, he should try taking me out.

What a wonderful way to wrap up my day! I love the story, the song, the photo and that you shared it. No way is it too long when it ends so well.

Tracy,
No offense intended! I agree... just needed some sort of lead in to the post.

Wow, fifteen years!! You must have made quite an impression. I love that he had a song written about it. What a keeper.
Ah, that's amore! :D
Oh man that is adorable. Talk about reasons to be happy! Thank you for sharing that :)
Yeesh, at this rate it might be fifteen years for me!
It's never too late. Congrats!
Corey,
No offense taken. I'm only 32. But if it takes 15 years, then so be it.
Wow! 15 years?! That is so amazing ... and sweet! What a song! Very cool ... thanks for sharing.
LOL! I like how the song has an 80's "Valley Girl" groove!
My husband took three weeks to call...and he didn't call, he emailed. And I thought that was too long!
There's a right time for everything. 1985 wasn't the right time for David and Corey. 2000 was.
Happy Anniversary!
That is all kinds of fabulousity! I love the story and the song. Which one are you in that picture? It's hard to really see faces to try to guess.
I love that you shared this.
Dive and ski. Sounds like a perfect match to me. :) What a cute story to share. Lesson of the day: However long it takes. :)
All that matters is that he did finally call - very romantic story.
1,000 years isn't too long to wait for something amazing!
