You Win Some, You Lose Some

Jordan has been outsmarting me pretty much since she's been old enough to talk.

For example, there was this conversation we had when she was four:

JORDAN: Mommy, I can't eat my chicken.

ME: Why not?

JORDAN: Because I don't like chicken nuggets without Ketchup. And... I don't like Ketchup.

So, I was pretty darn excited the other day when I got the best of her.

JORDAN: Mommy, I don't like the mac cheese tonight. The restaurant made it different this time.

ME: Let me taste it. Tastes exactly the same as always to me.

JORDAN: No, it tastes terrible. Something's wrong with it.

ME: It's the same as always!!! Joshy and Daddy think so too. Just eat it.

JORDAN: I can't.

ME: Okay, I'll get you a new one.

(Get up. Walk over to waiter. Whisper, "Can you stick this in the microwave for ten seconds and bring it back.")

ME: Here you go, sweetie. A nice new one.

JORDAN: This one is much better.

SCORE

I see Team Corey t-shirts in our future.

My Little Ballerina will totally be sporting a Team Jordan shirt, though. waaahh!

Stay on your toes, Corey!

Smart little cookie. I remember my oldest, now 25, when I first showed her helium balloons. I let them go and they floated to the ceiling. "Woah!" she thought, "that's not right". The gift of life is precious!

I like the ketchup comment. I once broke up with a girl the same way:
me: "I can't see you anymore"
her: "why not?"
me: "cuz I only like girls with ketchup... and you're crazy"

Almost the same. Way to go, Jordan!

Perfect. When I do something similar I almost want to tell Son afterwards just to re-inforce my little victory... then I try to remember I'm meant to be the adult!
