Thing 2's Greatest Hits

As a writer, it is important to get inside the minds of your audience.  So for those of you who write PBs, here are my five-year-old's best quotes from 2010:

Feb '10

(While visiting, Charlie, a neighbor's new puppy)
JORDAN: Charlie is smarter than Grandma's dog, Rosie.
JOSH: Well, Rosie is smarter than Sarah Palin.

March '10

ME: Josh, when is the last time you washed your hair.
JOSH: December

April '10

JOSH: Mommy, I have a new system. If I back up when I pee, I don't hit the wall.

June '10

(During Monopoly)
JOSH:  I read the word "Indiana"...without even looking!

Sept '10

JOSH: Mommy, come here. I need you.
ME: I can't right now, sweetie. I'm cooking something
JOSH: Can you pause?

Oct '10

ME: Josh, I am so proud of you. You read your first book!
JOSH:  Can you tell all your friends on Facebook?

Dec '10

ME: Josh, did you play Mario with your friend, Spencer?
JOSH: Yeah, but he hadn't played in a long time, so he was a little dusty.

Happy 2011, everybody!  Hope my kids still have a few years of good material left in them!

Adorable! Even better that you keep track of them. Here are a couple of gems from my 4 soon-to-be 5 year-old

In response to my memory loss following a head injury:

Do you remember how sugar works?

Some sweetness:

I love you as big as the solar system.

I'm going to miss you when I'm a grown-up.

Those are so cute! I love the idea of pausing. ;) To answer your question from my blog, my DD is 9. I can hardly believe it! ~*Happy New Year Corey!*~

Those are awesome! Love it! I do a Christmas card of quotes each year, so I'm always hoping the kids have some good material left for the coming year ... otherwise, I'll have to think of another creative option for the card! :-)

I laughed out loud at this one. There may very well be a picture book in that.

Corey, this is hilarious and sweet! What a smart kid. Thanks for sharing his gems.

I collected quite a few of my sons' sayings when they were little (which I have to admit was many years ago). Here are a few favorites:

"Daddy, turn off the newspaper." (age 2)

"Mommy, I love you in a hate voice." (age 3)

And this prophetic statement: "Why can't there be a machine to turn the pages of a book for me?" (age 3)

Ohmygod, I love your kids. I'm still a little scared of Jordan, but Josh sounds like a freaking riot.

These are so great, Corey! I wish I had written down more of my kids' quotes when they were little. One I remember, though, was when my son and daughter got new shoes (same brand and color) and my son placed his foot beside my daughter's and said, "Notice the family resemblance?" I always loved that one!
