April Fool, Phyllis!

We got a new puppy two weeks ago.  It's been infinitely harder than I had imagined.  The problem isn't the waking up in the middle of the night to let him out.  And it isn't the picking up after him.  The problem  is... how to keep him entertained!

If I try to play with him, he ends up biting me.

If I try to walk him on a leash, he sits down and refuses to budge.

If I give him one of those expensive bones to chew on, he buries it.

There seemed to be no good way to keep him busy!

Just when I was ready to give up...

Phyllis arrived!

Cruzer was riveted.  He loved the spunky protagonist and had loads of fun trying to solve the riddles.  Cruzer insisted on re-reading the story several times. It kept him engrossed for hours.

And I got a much needed break.

So, thanks to Susanna Leonard Hill for including us in the April Fool, Phyllis World Tour!   Cruzer recommends this engaging picture book for all  kids and canines.

AW! He is so cute, Corey!!! :) Thank you for even considering having a houseguest in the middle of puppy-training. I'm sure Phyllis had a wonderful time with you and your family and that adorable puppy! :)

Phyllis shows an amazing rapport with animals wherever she goes, it seems. One might almost consider her akin to them...

Cruzer is adorable, and I love the way he's staring so soulfully at Phyllis!

Corey, Cruzer is precious! I would take Cruzer's recommendations for any books. He seems very well read :-) Also, I hope you don't mind...but I suggested on Facebook in the 12 x 12 group that you add your book titles to the document for folks who have books published. I LOVE your titles and sure don't want to miss them. I have been kind of slow at following all the blogs of 12 x 12ers, but I added yours today. It will help remind me when your Ninja book hits the shelves! Can't wait!

Hysterical post. Have you tried Bethoven 5th to entertain him? If that doesn't work, maybe the Beatles.

Such a cute pup and post. You had me going...I was thinking what advice can I give Corey about puppies? Puppies like to taste everything just like babies. Puppies are like kindergartners, they don't how to do everything...walking on the end of a leash is a new experience. Maybe buy cheaper bones for him to bury???

Happy April!

Oh, the days of puppy training. . .I wouldn't want to go back there. But you'll get through it, and I'll be you even find some story inspiration through it all.

Good luck!
