Blogging Etiquette Question

Someone "unfollowed' me the other day.  I was so hurt. (I never claimed to be mature)  I mean, I know you sometimes Follow a blog and then realize you're not that interested after all.  But writers face so much rejection already.  We get rejected by editors.  We get rejected by agents. Now we also have to deal with rejection from our blogger fans?

I have removed some blogs from my Favorites roll, but mostly because they weren't posting with any regularity.

What is the general opinion out there.  Is it okay to remove and unfollow...  or not?

ooh, i have been guilty of removing myself as a follower from a few places just today. But it is for the same reasons as you - they just don't post regularly. (I'm hanging onto Jonathan Lyons though...but seriously...he needs to post!)

Maybe they went anonymous? :)

Ha! No, one day I had ten followers and the next day I had nine. I guess i have to be less sensitive

I haven't removed anyone that I followed before, but I don't see anything wrong with it--anything could have happened--maybe the person quit being interested in writing/publishing, maybe they're limiting their reading time...I know when I have lots of things due, I won't log on to anything because I know I need to focus. The person probably thought you wouldn't even notice; I've had a couple of readers not notice the "followers" option, so they never listed themselves as followers. It used to hurt my feelings, but I try not to even notice now. Now I just have to fight follower-envy!

You can't hang on these things. Just keep writing, just keep blogging, just keep being yourself because you're wonderful. For every follower you lose, you'll gain 10 more.

Us sensitive butterflies quiver easily, but it's what makes us so caring! I would have felt sorry too, but I know get over it is totally the right advice.

At least we know we wouldn't want to be sensitive motorbikes now, don't we?

I know exactly how you feel! I had my first dropped follower last week and was devastated. I'd never meet this person in my life but I really, really liked having her tiny face in my collection of tiny Follower faces. In a moment of passive aggression I went right to her bog and wrote a long, loving and insightful comment to her most recent post. Time for Celexa? :)

someone did this to me a few weeks back and I felt so shocked!!! I would never ever stop following byclicking on Stop Following... I just would stop reading their posts... am far too sensitive for my own good. Hope you get to see this comment if only to make you feel a bit better about one less follower... and hey, I am going to follow you!
