The Vomit King Strikes Again

I had so many things I was planning to do today, until my three-year-old son woke up with a stomach bug and had to stay home from school. In case anyone is wondering, it was my fault that he threw up all over our bed, because I "didn't grab the bucket fast enough." He made sure to point this out to me ten or twenty times lest I forgot. Mommy, if only you had better reflexes...

So, I didn't get to write. I didn't submit to Firebrand Literary Agency. And I didn't get to pick up my framed Emily Brown art. But I did find out I have yet another parenting flaw. I lack the speed necessary to catch projectile vomit.

If there is a picture book idea here, someone please let me know!

How about: "Urk! Blurk! " for a title?

Or hey, a series about the whole family: "My Mom has slow hands", "My dad has a potty mouth", (see how well I know your blog!), "My sister is cute as a bug's ear".

I am NOT laughing. Honest!

I feel your pain! I would call the book 'Bringing back tea'

I had a similar experience recently ....

I tagged you.
The rules are as follows: link to the person who tagged you; write down six things that make you happy; post the rules; tag six others and let them know you have done it; tell the person who tagged you when your entry is up.

OMG! I need to tell SF about this post. She is the QUEEN of all yuckiness. Someone is vomiting or having diarrhea weekly at her house. lol!

Oh, I'm so sorry. None of that sounds fun. I hope your son feels better soon!

Book Chook, wow. You do know my blog well :)

Thanks, everybody. He is back to normal. That kid goes from zero to 60 in no time!

Your 3-year-old is obviously a young reader. I'm impressed with his vocabulary.. reflexes.... that's pretty good for a boy his age.
Sorry to hear that though.

It seems like my reflexes slow down when one of my kids throw up. Later when I think back on the moment, I think, "I was moving so slow!" But really, vomitting just happens way to darn fast!

I hope your little guy is feeling better.

Don't worry about Firebrand. Last I heard they had approximately 3000 submissions for the "Query Holiday," all of which they promised to read by February 1. Seems to me that you would have an advantage if you DIDN'T submit during the QH period!

I remember the projectile vomit days! Glad he's feeling better. And yes, I think plenty of every day life things would make great picture books -- if approached in the right way :)

Ooh, I have to say I totally feel for you. I just posted about my own family having this bug a few days ago. My 3yr old daughter was saying, "No mommy, I don't want the 'Yuckies bucket!'" lol. I hope he feels better and you don't get it!

BTW - found your blog thru Christy Raedeke's blog. Cool stuff!

Oh ... I'm so sorry ... I hope he is feeling better ... and your bedding is back to pre-vomit condition! I don't know that a parent, at any speed, can catch the projectile version! When we realize it's coming, we usually pick up the child and run like the wind to any non-carpeted, non-fabric-covered area of the house! :-)

You must check out "Superhero ABC" for the hero called "volcano man". I'm sure he will look familiar, as he vomits on villains (and there's a lot of it! ;)
