Many Thanks

First of all, thanks to Katie at Katie's Literature Lounge for including Hop! Plop! in her new feature, Mailbox Monday.

Second, thanks to Tara Lazar for interviewing me as part of her "Love a Kidlit Author Month." Check out Tara's most recent interview: Aaron Zenz, Inside the Creative Mind of a Rising Author/Illustrator. You can also enter to win a signed four-book set of the Howie I Can Read series.

Last, thanks to my darling husband for being so tolerant as I abandon ALL household chores in order to focus obsessively on my new rhyming PB manuscript. David and I realized long ago that the only way to motivate me to do any cooking or cleaning was to give me grades (Ha! My friends from high school will get it :) And I know I deserve D's and F's this week. Sorry, honey. I love you! But don't worry... I should have the meter ironed out soon. And then I can return to my normal level of house management (Thank God, I set the bar very low)

Yes, I told my husband the same thing when I started nursing school. "Sorry hon, something has to go. I'd rather it be the cleaning/cooking." ;)

Now we live off of crockpot meals, frozen pizza, lasagne, and fast food. oops. Not an A+ mom. But I never was even when I had the time. I swear in another life I was a princess with lots and lots of staff-servants.

As soon as I have a second I'll email you one of my PB manuscripts. Most of my work is on the laptop which is right now out of commission. grrr.

Well, we've been watching Big Love (HBO show about polygamists) so now I like tell him, "Make sure your second wife can cook!"

Oh good luck! I HATE household chores. And these days I hate cooking. And laundry. And even eating sometimes. I just can't be bothered.

I want to figure out my re-write MORE.

Love Clover's notion that she must have had a bunch of servants in a previous life. I think I did too.

Corey - Thank you for your comment on the New Author. I hope to read more of them in the future.

Now for your post. It sounds like you have a lot to be thankful for. That is a good thing. Also, good luck getting your grades up.

Once I became obsessed with writing (this is starting to sound like an AA meeting!), I decided to embrace my slovenliness. I now have names for all the dust bunnies (Nigel, Nigel and er...you guessed it, Nigel) and my family cringe when they hear the sound of a can opener!

Corey,
It seems you have been setting the bar too high for years. I have long been on a Pass/Fail basis with cleaning and cooking. I "pass" if no one gets injured from the condition of the house or ill from the cooking. Slightly queasy from the cooking? That's still a "pass." Glad you have your priorities in order now.

Well, I can't let cooking fall to the wayside. I just can't. I love to cook. I love to eat. If I don't make something delicious, I don't get to eat something delcious. So there you have it.

What has fallen away is the cleaning around the house. I think I need to drop a bomb and start from scratch.

Corey, it is awesome that you are so into this new pb (and YOUR OWN pb at that!). So, keep going. Your house will wait.

Thanks everybody!

Melisa, my husband read your comment and said I am no longer allowed to associate with you (apparently you're a bad influence :)

Becky, I am trying, but I desperately NEED you! I think I've gotten about as far as I can on my own.

BTW - I emailed you two of my PB manuscripts that are going on the back burner. They both are rhymed and alliterated. Phbbllltt! lol.

Let me know what you think!

But I know you are busy so please don't fee like you need to get back to me asap or anything!

Corey,
I thought you said your husband was smart. It has taken him over a year to figure out that I am a bad influence?
