A NaNo Alternative for PB Writers

I admit it. I am jealous of all you NaNo participants. It's like a club and I can't join. You all get to "friend" each other and send each other virtual high fives! I feel left out.

But Tara Lazar has proposed an alternative for those of us who write picture books only.

National Picture Book Writing Idea Month- generate one new picture book idea per day.

30 ideas in 30 days.

I'm in!

If you'd like to participate, just sign in by leaving a comment on her blog post.

Hurray. We've got out own club!

Sounds like fun! I'm not doing nano this year. I have too many projects I want to finish. But I am participating in Kasie's, more sadistic, version of nano where we strive to clean the house for thousands of minutes this month. We must be crazy!

Sounds like fun! Too bad I already signed up for NaNo. Maybe I'll try this idea myself some other month, or maybe it will become and annual event!

Corey, you did send a virtual high five! And it's much appreciated.

Well, now I feel really left out. I'm not doing NaNo, and I don't write picture books. Is there any club I can join?????

Yes, Susan. Good news, You can join Kasie West's NaHoCleMo (National house cleaning month) Perfect for those writers who are devoted to their writing, but lazy about everything else! :)

Corey - Did you know that Vermont College of Fine Arts opens its Picture Book semester to writers not in the MFA program. This current semester is being taught by Kathi Appelt. The semester starting in January will be taught by Sarah Ellis. I don't know if there are openings in the Winter Semester or not, but . . .

I hadn't heard about this. I'm so glad you blogged about it!

Oh, great, Shel. The more the merrier.

In over eight years of writing I have come up with exactly two PB ideas. They're not bad, but 30 in 30 days? That's impressive. Good luck, I am sure you will get a gem or two out of this worthy exercise!

I think we should just name this "National Pursue Your Passion Month!" I see a lot of bloggers have chosen to make it national blog writing month, where they post a blog every day, so why not? Whatever it is, set a daily goal and go for it.
